This project completed in 2019 during my second year of university is dedicated to 200 years of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein! My university was involved in a nationwide event to commemorate female authors from Mary Shelley through to J K Rowling. A competition was held over the summer to design a final costume for one member of the Frankenstein story, I chose Professor Frankenstein himself during his state of utter madness after creating his horrific monster. I was lucky enough to have my work showcased in the Library of Birmingham within their own exhibition. The actual project was to design for 6 cast members of our own interpretation of Frankenstein, I chose to focus on the Professor and his deranged mental state. Using this as inspiration I designed and produced a 3-piece hand tailored suit set in the late 1700's. I looked deeply into the Professors work within science and researched tools, politics and experiments that were completed around this time by scientists and doctors. All of this inspired my final pieces.
